About the Role

Smarttech247 is hiring a Security/Network Engineer to join the Engineering team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in securing our clients’ networks and infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• SIEM Management: Design the SIEM solutions to ensure it scales and meets the organization’s requirements, integrate various log sources and perform log quality check and performance tuning. Azure Sentinel, Splunk and Google Chronicle
• Security Auditing: Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and remediate potential security risks.
• Incident Response: Liaise with the SOC to develop and execute incident response plans to address security incidents and minimise their impact.
• Network Security: Implement, manage and maintain network security measures to safeguard against unauthorised access, data breaches and cyber threats.
• Network Monitoring: Monitor network traffic and logs for suspicious activities, proactively addressing security issues as they arise.
• Firewall Management: Configure and manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems and VPN solutions to protect the network perimeter.
• Access Control: Implement and maintain access control policies and procedures to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive data.
• Security Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of security policies, procedures and configurations.
• Patch Management: Keep network infrastructure and security systems up-to-date by applying patches and updates in a timely manner.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security best practices are integrated into the organisation’s operations and projects.
• Security Awareness: Promote security awareness and provide training to employees on security best practices.

Key Skills/Qualifications:

• Network Security Expertise: Strong understanding of network security principles, including firewall configuration, intrusion detection/prevention and VPN technologies.
• Cybersecurity Knowledge: Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and the ability to stay up-to-date with evolving threats and vulnerabilities.
• Networking Proficiency: Proficiency in network protocols, routing and switching, with the ability to troubleshoot network issues effectively.
• Security Tools: Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, antivirus and vulnerability scanning tools.
• Scripting and Automation: Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) and automation tools to streamline security processes.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve complex security issues.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey security concepts and collaborate with diverse teams.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA Security, or equivalent are a plus.
• Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and adapt to changing security requirements.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure security policies are implemented accurately and consistently.
