What To Expect At Zero Day Con
Ireland’s largest CIO/CISO gathering is about to take place next week. It is gaining excitement from senior IT Executives all around. If you are attending Zero Day Con on March 7th in the Dublin convention centre, here is what you can expect:
International expert speakers
Organisers of the event are keen to have the most authoritative voices in cyber security present. They are delighted to announce the current Assistant Legal Attaché for the FBI, Kurt Pipal, who represents the FBI in London on cyber matters will speak at the event. He has spent more than twelve years of his career in the FBI’s Counterintelligence and Cyber Divisions. He worked cases that protected national security. The 32 speaker line-up also includes Tom Kellermann and Hank Thomas (Strategic Cyber Ventures Group), Denis Kennelly (IBM Security), Rik Ferguson (Trend Micro), Gary Delaney (AIB Bank), Alan Bambury (Kerry Group) and Dave Allen (Palo Alto Networks). A Live Security Operation Centre VR Experience
Delegates will also have an opportunity to experience a Virtual Reality Security Operations Centre at the IBM Security stand. Through a VR headset, visitors can experience the process of detecting a threat using the latest technologies. This includes QRadar, Watson for Cyber Security and Resilient.
EU GDPR discussions
In April 2016, the European Parliament passed the final vote for the new GDPR. MEPs agreed to update existing legislation to make it more relevant to modern technology. While the new laws won’t be enforced for another year, this is still a relatively short period considering businesses will need to get to grips with the new requirements. They must evaluate their existing security measures and navigate the path to full compliance in that time. Dave Allen, Jason Burns, Bryan McCarthy and Rik Ferguson will join on a panel discussion to discuss what the GDPR will mean for global businesses. Bryan McCarthy will also hold a morning presentation to set out the main features of GDPR that will impact your business in simple terms for you to take away, consider and implement, as necessary.
Real life scenarios
The first part of Zero Day Con will be comprised of morning presentations. Speakers will share practical tips and insights on IoT security, cognitive security, cloud security, investing in intrusion suppression, data protection and controlling access to data. Martin Leahy, CTO Abtran will also open the conference with a very interesting presentation on Abtran’s cybersecurity journey to date. This will offer the delegates the chance to learn about a real-life cybersecurity scenario.
